But even in our small town the groceries are open til 9pm from Monday to Saturday, the other shops close at 6, 6.30 or 7pm depending on the shop. Sunday shopping is possible on 4 Sunday afternoons a year with a special permission of the town. When I was young, all shops still had a lunch break and closed at 6pm, on Saturdays at 1pm.Utenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-475433301832883854.post-36865938660122560062011-04-28T22:56:58.247-07:002011-04-28T22:56:58.247-07:00Only small independent shops are allowed to open o...Only small independent shops are allowed to open on Easter Sunday in England. Perhaps it is different now. Saturday afternoons, for me, were spent with friends, out for coffee, or sitting with a blanket and book beside the lake.

Hi Chris,
I figured you would agree with it too!Carpe Diemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15763985033840702781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-475433301832883854.post-14637574248575367922011-04-27T14:30:07.194-07:002011-04-27T14:30:07.194-07:00I totally agree Uta, there should be a law against...I totally agree Uta, there should be a law against shopping on Christams Day and Easter.Chris Lodgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253095884971237213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-475433301832883854.post-80335387995569340262011-04-26T22:54:16.944-07:002011-04-26T22:54:16.944-07:00I completely agree. The only thing open later than 6pm during the week are store in the central train stations and gas stations. It was lovely to have to "plan" to go shopping after work on Thursdays; other days if you wanted entertainment after dinner you had to hang out with FRIENDS...*shock*Ceehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16516722290571447273noreply@blogger.com
